A VPN review is more useful when it tells you how a service behaves, not just what its marketing page promises. Start with clear criteria, then open a provider review for the details that matter to you.
Clearly labeled evidence • No invented live measurements
What the measurements say
What the result means
Secure-VPN organizes provider reviews around repeatable tests, privacy trade-offs, device support and practical setup. Where current evidence is missing, a claim stays unscored rather than becoming a made-up winner.
Read the method, check the limits, then use your own connection to confirm the result.
Secure-VPN currently measures NordVPN and ExpressVPN across 87 destination countries using 5 source locations. We keep protocols separate, so NordLynx, Lightway and OpenVPN do not get blended into one provider-wide speed number.
Each provider card highlights its best protocol with enough comparable data. Protocols with too little coverage are still shown, but we do not give them a score until there is enough evidence.
The protocol can make a big difference to VPN speed and latency. That is why Lightway, NordLynx, WireGuard and OpenVPN are measured separately.
Compare protocol results →We compare providers using the same test source and shared exit locations, so unrelated network conditions do not get mixed together.
Compare providers →VPN download performance relative to the paired clean baseline.
Measured raw download throughput through the VPN tunnel.
Median round-trip latency observed during rankable VPN tests.
The number of matched exit countries included in the comparison.
A useful provider review separates documented product features, controlled measurements and everyday experience. Start with the question you care about, then follow the appropriate evidence trail.
Check current apps, devices and protocols
Look for comparable runs and clear limits
Know which claims come from the provider
| What you want to know | Where to start | What remains to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Is this provider suitable for my devices? | NordVPN review | Current app support, limits and any recent changes |
| How will it affect my connection? | Speed testing guide | Same-route baseline and VPN-on measurements |
| Which service is more appropriate? | Head-to-head comparison | Comparable scenarios and documented trade-offs |
| Are the rankings supported? | Ranking methodology | Publication date, sample sizes and coverage |
Coverage: This draft review library currently links to one dedicated provider review. Additional provider profiles should be added only when there is substantial original research, not as near-duplicate pages.
Speed is only part of the story. A practical VPN needs stable connections, usable apps, suitable locations and privacy claims that can be checked. We separate the things we can measure from the things a provider says about itself.
Whenever a benchmark is cited, look for its date, destination, protocol and network conditions. A single high download result says little about your next video call or a congested evening route.
Evidence before star ratings
Measured performance versus advertised features
Device and customer-support experience
Read the limitations first. Did the reviewer test the features you plan to use? Were several regions and protocols involved, or just one short connection? Are subscription terms and renewal prices clearly identified?
We recommend comparing two or three candidates and testing them on your own line, ideally while a refund window is still available.
Check connection stability as well as peak speed
Inspect privacy and logging statements
Verify current billing terms directly
Our NordVPN research page separates product capabilities from independent performance evidence. More provider pages can join this hub once each has a real editorial review.

The review structure keeps commercial relationships separate from measurement evidence. Any actual affiliate placement must be disclosed where it appears.
No site should claim that without an audit trail. Every review must state the evidence and limitations for that provider.
