You can use most Secure-VPN benchmark pages without creating an account. Some interactive tools need additional network information to choose a relevant test region or estimate how a VPN may perform on your connection.
When you run the speed test
When you start the browser speed test, Secure-VPN records the IP address used for the request, measured download and latency results, browser network metadata and a timestamp. When IP enrichment is available, we may also derive an approximate country or region and ISP/ASN information. This test history is used to produce your result and improve future ISP-level estimates.
Choosing a relevant test location
When Secure-VPN recommends a benchmark location based on your network, first-party request data may include your IP address, derived country or region, the recommended test location and related selection information. We use this to choose a relevant benchmark source and evaluate how well the selection process works.
Data from our own VPN tests
Our public VPN benchmark data comes from Secure-VPN test machines, not from visitors' VPN traffic. It includes technical measurements such as test location, VPN provider, protocol, VPN exit, throughput, latency, packet loss, quality state and timestamps. This benchmark data is separate from a visitor's browser speed test.

- Run the speed test and calculate the requested VPN speed estimate.
- Choose a relevant regional test location.
- Improve benchmark quality and ISP-level speed estimates.
- Keep the service working, troubleshoot problems and protect it from abuse.
You can use the site without running the speed test
The Heatmap, Rankings and Analytics pages do not require you to run the browser speed test. If you do not want the additional processing described above, you can simply use those public benchmark pages without starting the speed test or ISP-history estimate.
If our data practices change
This page describes how the current benchmark and estimation tools handle data. We will update it when the site's collection, retention, analytics or third-party processing practices materially change.
