Secure-VPN tests VPN performance from different locations. We measure the internet connection without a VPN first, then run the VPN test from the same machine. The results are checked for quality before they appear in our public tools.
What we measure
We look at download speed, how much speed the VPN keeps, latency, jitter, packet loss, protocol, exit location and how consistent the results are over repeated tests.
Why the test location matters
The same VPN exit can be fast from one country and much slower from another. That is why we keep the test location visible instead of pretending one global speed number applies to everyone.
How results reach the site
The Heatmap, Rankings, provider comparisons and Analytics pages use the same test data. Headline results only use measurements that pass our quality checks, and we show sample coverage so you can see how much evidence is behind a result.
Performance results and commercial relationships
Secure-VPN may use commercial or affiliate links, but those relationships do not decide technical performance scores or rankings.
